Aguada Fortis a 17th century fortress and lighthouse,built in 1609 by Portugese.
It has a historical significance as it was built keeping in strategic defence in mind, and it formed as a base to fend off enemies coming from the sea route.
The fort is visited by hundreds of tourists every day as it forms the best location for photography and is a visual treat in itself.
The fort is facing the wide expanse Arabian Sea.
Aguada Lighthouse is an another atttraction within the fort, which has been guiding ships since1864and makes for a beautiful picture,Aguada Jail- largest jail in Goa is also situated there.
